Not proud to say it, but having cheated on my wife & eventually divorcing, has anybody looked at the wife's role? I'm not taking Tiger's side, or any other man for that matter, but in my marriage I tried several times to talk about what was causing me to feel "trapped". I was miserable, & I felt it was making my children miserable. My biggest regret in my divorce is that I was seeing someone before I left, and that later caused problems in the relationship. Not trying to shift the blame to her because it takes two to make the marriage work and if one isn't trying, eventually the other will get tired of trying to keep things together. Every relationship is different, it just ssems like the guys are always made to be the bad guys and the women get the pity.

I think what's expected is get an education, get a job, find a girl and settle down and raise a family. I say why most young people don't even know themselves let alone their new spouses. I think it's a travesty. Maybe it worked in the pass but I think it. The Bible was written by man and man is the most fallible creature on earth. I just feel that what applys to some dosen't always applys to everyone.

                   peace

"Marriage is the last remaining slavery contract allowed in the western world."

This is a rather narrow minded view of the Western world, and marriage. Indentured slavery is what you call a employee. Marriage, however, is not the only slavery contract allowed in our Western world. This is yet one of other slavery contracts still allowed in the Western world.

As well, a more mature perspective is to make the best with what you have and what you got. If I bailed out of different areas of my life simply because I felt stuck or miserable, then this would be wreckless. If I left my job every time I felt stuck or miserable, then the odds are I'll be broke. Of course, if that's what I want, then more power to me, but it's not, so I need to keep a job. However, there are times even in a job that you like (ex. Tiger Woods), in which you are the best at, and enjoy the most, where you feel stuck and miserable. If Tiger Woods never plays again, of course, he's well to do, but it will be the one thing (I'm assuming) that he loves the most and enjoys the most. It would be immature for Tiger to quit the sport, as much as it would be immature on his part to divorce his wife. Of course, his wife will never her space and time to heal, but they may work together and make their marriage even better than it may have been in the past.

You're right, people should know what a promise means, and if you are going to marry and be monogamous, and even beyond that, be solely devoted to that one person, than you should be willing to do that for the rest of your life, if indeed that was your agreement. Although, I will say this, and the Bible says this too, to thrown in some Bible verses, that you seem not to be too interested in at the moment. The Bible states clearly that it is better for people to remain single, and the Bible states that the happier state of man is to remain single. Of course the Bible states that one man and one woman shall become one, and that this is a mystery in itself, however, it doesn't neglect to also make it clear that we are much happier as single people. (Both statement were made in the New Testament, once by Jesus and several times by Paul.)

Cheers,
